Hall of Fame Inductee - Larry Lyons

Every few years, a person comes up on the HOF
nomination list here at CCD who totally embodies the essence of what
was intended for the nominations in the first place. There have been
Class and Seasons Champions on the original list, and then we looked
for people who were the right fit to join the HoF with their
credentials. Larry Lyons, is not necessarily someone you would
think of under the heading of big time race winner, but he is
one of our greatest racers ever at CCD. In the late 1960's, he
bought his first Hot Rod brand new, off the showroom floor, but
didn’t get to race it until after serving in the US Army for 4
years. He then took up the sport, and raced that 1967 Fairlane for
about 8 years when he took on the seat of a friends dragster for a
few years, before beginning the long racing journey in the car he
still races today. He has a son, who in his own career has won
multiple championships, he has grandchildren who have gone on and
succeeded in the same family tradition and passion that has been a
part of his life for the past 50 years. Larry comes to the
track every week, has no peer when it comes to the absolute respect
of every person he meets, gets to go racing with his wife of 50
years, his son and his wife and his grandchildren. He is
nothing short of a winner and one of the greatest CCD Champion to
have graced famed 1/8 mile and now a CCD Hall of Fame Inductee.
