Hall of Fame Inductee - Ron Veach

|
|
Ron has been a part of the fabric of Coles County
Dragway USA for many years. He grew up with a passion for sports,
as a high school and college athlete while pursuing a degree in
radio and television. He also had, and still has, an aptitude for
mechanics, something probably taught to him by his father, an auto
shop teacher. Later, as a racer, he campaigned everything from
dragsters all the way to a Pontiac Fiero, and did his share of
winning along the way. He served as chief starter at CCD almost two
decades ago, and then had the opportunity to take over the helm as
owner-operator of the famed eighth mile, along with his wife Cathy,
his dad Ron Senior, and his family. He still can be found behind
the mic on Friday nights, calling passes just like he might have on
radio or TV. It is only fitting that that the person who started
the CCD “Hall of Fame” should be inducted.
A family man, a friend to many, and a very wise & helpful man, a
fierce competitor, and now a CCD Hall of Fame Inductee.
